The dictionary defines an entrepreneur as one who undertakes to start and conduct an enterprise or business, usually assuming full control and risk. According to that description, Bruce Patrum is an entrepreneur of the first order. This year, Bruce begins his thirty fifth year of being successfully associated with NASCAR in many and varied areas.

In February 1976, Bruce went to the races at Daytona and discovered there was a huge void in the souvenir business. He found a need and filled it. For the next two years, Bruce had the exclusive marketing arrangements with the top NASCAR drivers for their souvenirs. Those associations led to the formation of Patrum Motor Racing Properties whose services included Driver Representation, wherein Bruce handled Licensing Arrangements, Sponsorships, Personal Appearances and Public Relations. He was also directly responsible for negotiating numerous national television commercials. More of Bruce Patrum’s entrepreneurial talent is evidenced by the fact that he was the innovator of licensing arrangements between drivers and toy manufacturers.

Patrum Motor Racing Properties pioneered the highly successful Race of Champions. This series has showcased more than one hundred NASCAR drivers since its inception in 1985. The Race of Champions has been held in thirty-eight states and Canada. Bruce has given hundreds of thousands of people the opportunity to see and meet drivers whose numbers include Richard Petty, Bill Elliott, Cale Yarborough, Johnny Rutherford, A.J. Foyt, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Rusty Wallace, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Ned Jarrett, Dale Jarrett, Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Sterling Marlin, Kyle Petty, Harry Gant and the late Dale Earnhardt, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki and Neil Bonnett.

Patrum Motor Racing Properties continues to be the premiere co-coordinator of personal appearances by NASCAR drivers, averaging nearly one hundred a year. This is more than any other promoter since the very inception of NASCAR.

And this is just the beginning for this sixty four year old executive who has been married to his wife, Vickie, for forty-four years, is the father of two sons, three grandsons and two granddaughters. Bruce and Vickie make their home in Greensboro, North Carolina.
